From Moms Charlotte: Life as a mom of a child with ADHD

Julie Greer McGrath launched an 8-week series this week on Moms Charlotte.  I look forward to reading the rest of her tale. Unfortunately, you have the typical naysayers. When will the stigma end?

  3. Interestingly, I have been blocked from commenting on this site! I think most of you know me well enough to know that while I will stand up for kids and parents dealing with ADHD, I am never rude and always supportive of other parents dealing with these issues. I have emailed the site and have requested a response.

The most recent posting includes comments such as this:

"This article is COMPLETELY wrong! My daughter has ADHD and as long as she takes her meds you can't tell the difference between her and any other child that doesn't have it. The piece screams of the stereotypes associated with ADHD. Do better research and try again...."
    and
"I heard a good arse whipping and parenting rather than friendship is a great cure for this "behavior" problem"
    and
"Perhaps since the medication is not working, that your child is misdiagnosed and is more Oppostional Defiant and not ADHD. Perhaps its bad parenting..... Try Boarding school. change his environment to a more structured one maybe you will have better results."

    And yet, I was banned...
